Sages are wise philosophers at the mercy of their heart. They seek to understand, and teach, the mysteries of existence. As a person who resonates deepest and truest with the Sage archetype, you love to collect knowledge that will help you to develop a deeper connection to the Divine. Still you may spend years studying sacred texts, though, you are not content with simply an intellectual understanding of Divinity. You are instinctively attracted to the role of the Teacher or Guide who has embodied their wisdom into self-expression. Deep down, you have faith, you hope to someday share your knowledge with others.
As a Sage, you have the gift of articulating your insight through speaking or writing. While you enjoy analysis, abstract reasoning, ideas, theories, and philosophies, the list has no limit, you feel the most fulfilled when you can transform them into your own teachings.
At heart, you’re a seeker of wisdom through the vehicle of the mind.
The Sage lives in temperament, thus, can manifest as a tendency to lapse into dry intellectualization of the Divine, and therefore a disconnection from true spiritual experience. When the heart is not involved, the mind tends to dominate and limit the depths of spiritual realization to shallow interpretation. I have stumbled upon this confusion for almost my entire existence and what I had thought to be love was my own selfish hatred towards others AND myself. Sages can also abuse their positions of authority, particularly when they have developed “teacher” status. The abuse of power may manifest as a desire to control their followers or financially use those who support them. Inevitably, my own guilty conscience intentionally abused my entire existence, leaving me with karmic debt that The Universe has substantially collected time & time: again. Alternatively, the abuse of power may appear as narcissism, especially if the Sage is elevated to the status of Guru.
These developments will strengthen when you are open, aware, and internally balanced.
